We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the “Route to Impact” Pilot, which took place from October 28 to December 5, 2024. This initiative was part of the NextGen Mobility TestBed, in partnership with Grupo BRISA. The NextGen Mobility TestBed project offers an excellent platform for testing and validating innovative mobility solutions.
Our collaboration with Grupo BRISA has greatly advanced the Coompass platform, enabling us to achieve new milestones in corporate volunteering and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting.
Project Overview
The “Route to Impact” pilot was designed to test and enhance Coompass’s capabilities in managing corporate volunteering and tracking ESG impact using advanced technology, including blockchain integration. The primary goal of the pilot was to evaluate how our platform could support BRISA’s internal corporate volunteering initiatives while automating the ESG-related reporting required for their annual sustainability reports.
Initially, the technological maturity of the platform was assessed at TRL 6 (Technology Readiness Level 6), indicating that the platform had been scaled and was undergoing testing in a pilot environment. However, after the pilot, we observed significant progress, elevating the TRL level to TRL 9. This upgrade reflects the platform’s advanced state and readiness for large-scale implementation.
Key Features Tested and Improved
During the pilot, the platform was tested across various dimensions, providing a real-world environment to evaluate key functionalities.
1️⃣ Process Automation:
One of Coompass’s core features is its automation capabilities. The platform automates essential tasks such as notifications, report generation, and initiative validation. This significantly reduces administrative overhead, optimizes resource allocation, and ensures compliance with regulatory framework.
2️⃣ Intelligent Matching System:
The platform includes a robust matching system that aligns employee skills with the specific needs of social organizations. This approach enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of volunteering efforts, perfectly supporting corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
3️⃣ 24/7 Volunteer Tracking and Transparency:
Coompass provides continuous real-time tracking of volunteer activities, ensuring complete transparency and accountability. This feature is crucial for both participants and organizations, as it allows them to monitor the progress and impact of their volunteering efforts in real-time.
4️⃣ Impact Marketplace:
The Coompass Impact Marketplace offers a curated list of verified social organizations and pre-selected volunteer opportunities. This feature facilitates the formation of strategic partnerships for businesses, while reducing the time and cost associated with sourcing initiatives.
Pilot Results and Insights
The pilot involved BRISA employees as volunteers and included feedback from several social organizations, such as:
- Associação Salvador
- CRESCER
- Pedalar Sem Idade
- Centro de Apoio ao Sem Abrigo (CASA)
- Acreditar
- Espaço T
- Associação Vila Com Vida
The key outcomes of the testbed included the successful implementation of volunteering initiatives, resulting in significant social impact achieved within just one month. We demonstrated the platform’s capability to integrate ESG reporting with volunteering data. This integration allowed for automated tracking of volunteer hours, impact results, and a direct alignment with sustainability goals.
Furthermore, the platform was evaluated across three user roles: NGO, Employee, and ADMIN (BRISA). The webapp operated seamlessly in a 24/7 production environment, providing complete visibility of volunteer activities and data across the organization.
Technical Improvements and TRL Evaluation
During the pilot phase, Coompass experienced significant technical improvements. These enhancements were implemented based on user feedback and included upgrades to the user interface, navigation, and accessibility features. Additionally, the platform’s blockchain-based reporting functionality was refined to ensure more accurate and reliable ESG data.
As a result of these improvements, the platform was evaluated at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 9, confirming that Coompass is fully operational in real-world conditions and ready for large-scale deployment. This represents a pivotal moment for Coompass as we move forward with plans to scale the platform for broader adoption across various industries and social sectors.
Future Outlook and Market Potential
The “Route to Impact” pilot has established Coompass as a trusted and scalable solution for corporate volunteering and ESG management. We have demonstrated that our platform effectively streamlines volunteer coordination, automates reporting, and supports organizations in their sustainability initiatives.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue refining the platform, incorporating new features, and expanding its reach to more businesses and NGOs. The success of this pilot with Grupo BRISA confirms that Coompass is a valuable tool for organizations aiming to enhance their social responsibility and sustainability performance.
The “Route to Impact” pilot project has been a transformative experience for Coompass. The feedback and results from Grupo BRISA, along with the involvement of social organizations, have provided us with valuable insights to refine and scale our platform. With the successful completion of this pilot, we are now more confident than ever that Coompass is ready to make a significant impact in corporate volunteering and sustainable business practices.
We look forward to expanding our platform and continuing our mission to unite companies, employees, and NGOs to create meaningful social impact.
